04. Sugi Pine Serving Board

04. Sugi Pine Serving Board

Handcrafted Sugi Pine serving board. While commonly referred to as a pine, Sugi is actually a type of Japanese cedar. The heartwood of Sugi tends to be a reddish brown while the sapwood is a lighter golden brown. Sugi frequently has dark streaks and knots throughout the wood, giving pieces unique character. Knots can extend throughout the tree, giving the live edges a funky wave pattern. As a softwood, Sugi is considerably lighter than the other woods Alohana offers and is not recommended for use as a cutting board (however Sugi makes for beautiful serving platters!)   Beautiful grain, gloss finish, and smooth to the touch. Finished with food-safe Mineral Oil, Beeswax and Carnauba Wax. Perfect for serving food items or can be used as a beautiful display in your home.

Made from reclaimed wood….. This board is not only functional, it makes for a wonderful piece of art in your home.

Listing includes one (1) handcrafted wood board seen in picture. Item will be packaged and shipped with love, from the Big Island of Hawaii. Ready to use.

-Dimensions: 18"L x ~7"W x 1"H
-Weight: 1.5 Lbs
-Finish: All products are finished in a multi-step process involving several different sealants. The top coat is a blend of mineral oil, beeswax and carnauba wax which provides a semi-gloss to glossy final surface.
-Care Instructions: Boards should only be hand-washed with light soap - NEVER PUT THEM IN THE DISHWASHER. The top finish is relatively durable, but will wear off after several months of usage. In order to maintain a luster finish, we recommend any type of food-safe, beeswax based coating. A widely available product is Howard Feed-N-Wax, commonly found in hardware stores near the wood stain (also available on Amazon.)
-Return Policy: We accept returns on products damaged during shipment, otherwise all sales are final. Please contact us if there are any problems with shipping and we’ll do our best to make things right!
